Covid-19 Community Response and Action

Penistone Town Council fully supports and appreciates the work that the newly formed community volunteer group Lovethypenistone is doing in the face of the issues raised for our community in the governments lockdown response to the pandemic. Please read this news item: this is a time when unscrupulous people & scammers may try to take advantage of vulnerable local people. Please be cautious of offers to help and please look after your neighbours and your relatives.

Important info regarding the Covid-19 pandemic

Penistone Town Council confirms that with immediate effect The Paramount Cinema and The Community Centre will close until further notice.  This decision will be reviewed periodically and any further changes announced. This follows the cancellation by user groups of all activities which normally take place within The Community Centre, the live shows booked for The Paramount and is in line with The Council’s wish to protect their staff and customers in light of the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Measures are being taken to allow Council Officers to work from home where appropriate but we are also in the process of determining if limited office hours can be worked safely so as to ensure The Council maintains a background service.

All planned Council meetings are hereby cancelled for at least the next 3 months and any necessary meetings and/or operating decisions will be taken either after electronic communication or in line with current YLCA guidance.

We will continue to publish updates on our website and on social media.  This is an anxious time for all residents and staff and we ask for your forebearance over the next few months.

Thank you for your patience and stay safe.
