NOTICE OF CASUAL VACANCIES — 25th June, 8th July, 9th July 2024
Public notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972 that due to the resignation of Councillors Lisa Cork (25th June) Catherine Dodson (8th July 2024) and Lynne Crisp (9th July), vacancies exist in the office of Town Councillors for Penistone Town Council, Penistone and Cubley & Springvale Wards.
The vacancies will be filled by election if, within fourteen working days of this notice, any ten local government electors for Penistone Ward submit a written request to the Returning Officer, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Electoral Services, PO Box 634, Barnsley S70 9GG.

Folk Cancer – Paramount, 23 & 24 Nov 2024
An exciting weekend of folk music at the Paramount raising funds for cancer research. Artists include, Kate Rusby and Eddi Reader.
Roofing works at the Town Hall
Work on the roof will start in early August. This will also have an impact on the adjacent car park.
Community Shop on the Go
Calling at Penistone Church FC car park, the project takes great food to venues across the borough and sells it at a fraction of the usual cost.

Road Closure: Barnsley Rd, Penistone, 23-06-2024
Barnsley Rd, Penistone will be closed either side of the railway bridge, from 23 June 2024 for approximately 1 day.
Speed Restriction, Penistone – Ingbirchworth, July 2024
There will be a 40mph speed restriction on A629 Halifax Road and A629 Huddersfield Road from 1 July 2024 for approximately one month.

A D-Day 80th Anniversary Commemoration will take place at the War Memorial outside St John’s Church on Thursday 6th June 2024 at 10.45am.
Temporary Speed Restriction, Halifax Rd, Penistone
A 40mph speed restriction will be in place on Halifax Road from Wellhouse Lane to Huddersfield Road, from 6th May 2024 for approximately five weeks.

A section of Huddersfield Rd, Penistone will be closed from 11th April 2024 at least until 21st April 2024 for safety reasons following a collapsed wall. Alternative routes are available.
