St. John’s Community Centre
Situated off Church Street, the newly-refurbished Community Centre has been a valuable asset for the people of Penistone since 1987. Its lifespan has been significantly increased by the recent, essential building work and we’ll be serving the people of Penistone for many years to come. You can read about the progress of the renovation project on the special Refurbishment Journey page.
There are 5 rooms available for hire: 2 large halls (Thurlstone View and Hoylandswaine View); a large conference/ party room (Springvale Room); a slightly smaller Penistone Room and the Cubley Room which is multipurpose as a bar or medium-sized meeting room.
An interactive version of the floorplan which includes more photos and information can be found here.
Usage
The rooms may be hired for gatherings and functions such as weddings, fairs, society meetings, and as rehearsal rooms for choirs and even dancing. The Community Centre is not licensed to sell alcohol so a Temporary Event Notifiction (TEN) has to be submitted to Barnsley Council by anyone intending to use the Cubley Room as a bar. More information and application forms can be found here: https://www.barnsley.gov.uk/services/licences-and-permissions/temporary-event-notices.
