MESSAGE FROM BMBC ENVIRONMENT & TRANSPORT – BURST WATER MAIN
(26th December 2025)
Yorkshire Water have closed Bridge Street in Penistone town centre due to a burst water main. We are liaising with Yorkshire Water to repair the damage to the road surface as quickly as possible and are meeting with them this morning.
In the meantime, an alternative for vehicles under 4m in height is available via A628 Barnsley Road, A629 High Lee Lane/Oxspring Road/Jockey Road/Copster Lane, Thurgoland Bank, Sheffield Road, Shrewsbury Road.
An alternative route for vehicles over 4m in height is available via A628 Thurlstone Road/Manchester Road, Hartcliffe Road, Hartcliffe Hill Road, Mossley Road, Mortimer Road.
These are likely to be disruptive works so we are working with Yorkshire Water to resolve quickly as a high priority. Further information will be provided when available.
