A resident of Sheffield Road in Springvale has recently contacted PTC to report that 2 men claiming to be from Penistone Council came to her house. They entered her house and told her she would have to pay £500 towards the costs of having her old coal cellar chute sealed off.
THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT FROM PENISTONE COUNCIL and this matter is now in the hands of the police.
Please be very wary of anyone who turns up on your doorstep unexpectedly and do not admit anyone to your home without being 100% certain of who they are and where they are from.
Always ask to see identification and if you are in any doubt, lock them out of the house while you telephone the relevant organisation to check up – if they are genuine they won’t be offended.
