The rooms are used frequently for weddings, fairs, society meetings, and as rehearsal rooms for choirs and dancing school.

The new Penistone Market Barn is more than just a traditional market, it is a fantastic community venue and available to host a variety of events - witness the very successful Folk Concert in June that has taken place for the last two years and the Christmas Carol Concert early in December 2011. Penistone Town Council is proud of this new venue and is more than happy to see it used as a location for your function. Maybe you're looking for a setting for a Wedding Fayre, Exhibition or Charity Event - we'd love to see you there. Penistone Town Council's Town Services Committee is charged with helping people to use the Market Barn - our offices are on 01226 370088 - just give us a call to run through your ideas
Completed in 2011 and built by Carpenter Oak of Totnes, the market boasts the largest public oak frame in the country. Against strong competition from other projects such as the £15.3 million Sheffield Crucible theatre refurbishment and the new £18 million Sheffield Institute of Translational Neuroscience (SITRaN) building, the market won the South Yorkshire and Humber LABC Building Excellence Awards.
You can read more about the construction of this historic building project on the special page on the Carpenter Oak website.
